I just finished Woodworking: Power Tools lvl 1 Basics. I had and absolute blast on it. Jeremy is a passionate teacher and loves sharing his craft. However he expects a lot from his students. Make sure you follow the online videos during the course and get your design figured out before your second lesson to be able to finish your project on time.Working following Covid protocols was unusual but not a hindrance on the course. We wore mask at all time, tried our best to keep 6' away from each other and cleaned up any tools we would use. I'm looking forward to join lvl 2 and taking on a more complex project.

What I truly love about this studio itself is that it's setup for using power tools as well as hand tools. There is even a lathe. Whatever you need to do you can do it here at the same time. And then, there are the people who teach or work there. I have taken classes with Jeremy and Barry.Jeremy is passionate, knowledgeable, and a great teacher. He starts by teaching you about wood itself, cause what is being made will only be good quality if the qualities and movements of the wood are taken into account during the initial joinery design phase. He teaches the fundamentals of doing joinery and it's so much fun to learn from him.I also took a wood turning class with Barry. He is an amazing turner, and he knows how to explain the techniques of turning. His passion for turning comes through in every class and makes every class fun while he teaching lots. It was a great class.

If you are passionate about crafting wooden objects, I highly recommend Urban Woodworker.I had woodworking level 1 and it was absolutely a pleasant experience.Jeremy loves what he does. He is passionate and patient with a lot of knowledge and experience who is always approachable if you have any questions. Our instructor was NV former mayor, Darrell Mussatto who was a great pleasure to work with. He is such a great teacher. The facility itself is also great and well equipped.I will definitely come back for more courses especially hand tools and carving.

If you are interested in woodworking here is the best place to start! For me, a dream come true!I just finished my first class, and I could not wait to register and start the next one.The shop is very well equipped, nice and clean. You will enjoy your time there. Our instructor, Tristan, was awesome. I enjoyed working with him. He tried to make time for all the students and work with each of us one by one to make sure we have learned how to work with machines safely and in the right way! One thing I liked is that he care about the project we were working on, which was a leaded box, and he wanted us to have a nice clean box by the end of the course which we are happy with!Making mistakes! No problem! Tristan is always there for you to show you how to fix it and learn you more tips/tricks!Definitely recommend it!Thank you Urban Woodworking!

Jeremy is the Mr. Miyagi of woodworking! His passion and skills are infectious and he made the intense week of woodworking fundamentals 1/2 an amazing experience. I wish I could add an extra star on this rating scale.I was reluctant about how good the experience would be with the pandemic policies in effect. Even with COVID he kept the learning environment safe, highly stimulating, dynamic, tons of demonstrations and always there to provide 1:1 coaching. If you are a total novice (like me) or already highly advanced, the courses offered here are top notch. A huge thank you to Jeremy and the other instructors that popped in to say hi.I’ll be back.

Superb classes with Jeremy and Charlie. They are meticulous, inspiring, and always willing to help. Each class is well-planned, so you will learn a lot from these pros. Took hand tools, woodturning , and Japanese-inspired HT courses, and would recommend all of them. Drop-ins are offered for those who wish to continue their woodworking without a home set-up.

Unhappy with the choices available of urns to hold my mother's ashes, I turned to Urban Woodworker for help.It was an unusual request but incredibly important to my family and I. My mother had been an environmentalist her entire life. It was my hope that Jeremy would take on the task and create something simple but elegant from local and natural materials. He accepted the work. There were many choices to be made of types of wood, grain, and finishes. All were patiently explained to me.The end product was beautiful. The craftsmanship impeccable.Jeremy is a true artisan.

I traveled to North Vancouver to take Jeremy Tomlinson's week-long Woodworking Fundamentals Intensive. This was a transformative experience that I'll remember the rest of my life. There is a reason that his weekly classes sell out in minutes; the locals know. One can however succeed in registering for an intensive such as mine.Jeremy is both profoundly philosophical and profoundly artistic, yet his classes are entirely grounded in safety and practicality. One cannot separate these views, as woodworking is seeing; each step of the process interacts to determine the final result. Jeremy teaches seeing through hands-on work; one could transfer these lessons to any realm in life. One also becomes a much better woodworker.Jeremy is a natural teacher who loves to teach. I have decades of experience attempting to learn woodworking on my own. Among my fellow students were complete beginners. We each learned a great deal. The course was well-organized, with information presented as we needed it. We helped each other, and much of the learning came through resolving the problems posed by each of our projects.I researched every option I could find for similar courses in the United States or Canada. I had the good fortune to meet Jeremy at a Lie-Nielsen event in California, and I just knew. I believe that this school is the best of its kind, worth traveling for. The Urban Woodworker has my most enthusiastic recommendation.
